Andrés Salazar

Colombian-American 3D designer and art director based in New York.

I work at the intersection of design and CG, building visual systems that balance control and unpredictability. My practice focuses on translating everyday objects, materials, and behaviors into expressive, often surreal compositions that highlight the magic in the mundane.

I am particularly drawn to procedural tools like Houdini, using them not just for efficiency but as a way to design systems that generate variation, embrace imperfection, and produce unexpected outcomes. My work often sits between design, motion, and visual effects, combining narrative thinking with structured design processes.
During my years in New York I’ve worked with studios including DCOY, Brand New School, Young Hero, and Streeters, contributing to projects for clients such as Uber Eats, Citi, American Airlines, J&J, and JBL. Across these collaborations, I’ve worked within multidisciplinary teams to develop visual systems and motion work in fast-paced, concept-driven environments.

In Colombia I worked as a freelance art director and production designer for companies like Netflix, Rappi and Olmeca.

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, music, video games, and spending time with my wife Jimena and our cat, Nerón.
