Hi! I’m Andres
a Colombian-American designer and 3D artist based in Astoria, New York. My work explores the magic in the mundane, blending photorealistic 3D creations with surrealist visuals to spotlight the beauty of quotidian spaces. I am drawn to procedural software like Houdini and inspired by 20th-century design movements. I live in the junction of visual effects and design.
Before moving to New York, I worked in Colombia as a freelance production designer on TV and commercial sets for brands like Netflix, Rappi, and Olmeca. I also created animations and design work for different clients including Johanna Ortiz, Casa Ciclo, and Coombo. Since then, I’ve earned an MFA in Computer Arts from the School of Visual Arts (SVA), where I was awarded a merit-based scholarship and twice recognized with the Computer Arts Academic Excellence Award. As my thesis project I created the project Functionless, which was awarded an honorary mention in the 2024 Ars Electronica Campus Exhibition in Linz, Austria and was exhibited at the Digital Design Weekend at the V&A Museum in London.
During my internship at Brand New School, I worked on design and animation projects for clients such as Uber Eats, Citi Bank, American Airlines, and Xfinity. I collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to fast-paced, high-impact projects in a quick and creatively rich environment.
During my free time, you’ll probably find me cooking, listening to music, or playing video games. Or hanging out with my wife Jimena and our cat, Neron.
